About
A Bit of Background
Theatre is an ever-evolving form of media that continues to shape our world and actions. Untold Theatre is dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, and accessibility through the education of the lesser known aspects of theatre and media. We emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. Established in 2020, we are a youth-led organization amplifying marginalized voices and providing a safe community for everyone to share their art.

Untold Theatre originated through the discussions of inequality and misrepresentation in media and the production of media, particularly those that sparked in May of 2020 during the Black Lives Matter protests. Rayan Afif started a series of slideshows, with the help of Sofie Strompf, educating their peers on Representation in Theatre/Media, Communication Disorders & Theatre, Deaf Theatre, Physical Disabilities & Theatre, and Mental Health & Theatre. After a lot of thought and feedback from peers, Rayan decided to turn the series of slideshows into an organization dedicated to the progression and equality in media.

Untold Theatre is based in Fairfax, Virginia. However, there are opportunities to get involved from anywhere. Untold Theatre acknowledges the Manahoac tribe as the original owners of the land of which they're based.
